PINS Overview

PINS was first introduced in 2003 and was designed to ensure that local intelligence officers received accurate prison release information before offenders were released into the local community. The system has been systematically upgraded to incorporate matching with target offenders and warrants data.

PINS has now been adopted by over 70% of UK Police Services as a vital piece of intelligence software. By linking prisoner information to other sources of police data, PINS helps ensure that offenders are not overlooked while in prison. UK Police Forces have come to regard it as a vital piece of intelligence software.
