Government Computer Services Board selects Business2Mobile from Saadian Technologies
Irish Public Sector chooses Saadian's Mobile Applications for Local Authorities
and 2004 European Union Presidency Dublin, 2 February 2004, SAADIAN TECHNOLOGIES,
Ireland's leading provider of Mobile Business Applications to enterprise level
organisations in the public and private sector announced that it has signed an
exclusive deal with the Local Government Computer Services Board (LGCSB) for the
provision of mobile applications. The agreement will enable the LGCSB to mobilise
all local authorities in Ireland enabling them to communicate directly with the
public by SMS and emerging mobile technologies. Local authority staff can use
SMS messaging applications on their desktops to send and receive messages. Uniquely
Business2Mobile allows recipients to respond to these SMS messages and have their
responses routed to the originator. Local Authorities will use Business2Mobile
for distributing automated update notifications to citizens on the processing
of documentation such as planning applications and driving license renewals. Local
Authorities will also be able to use Business2Mobile as part of the Mobhaile project
(www.mobhaile). The aim of Mobhaile is to provide a comprehensive information
facility for citizens and communities throughout Ireland using technology.
The agreement also covers the provision of messaging applications for 2004 European
Unison Presidency and for IT server monitoring in the LGCSB. While hosting the
EU Presidency 2004 website, the LGCSB will use Saadian's Business2Mobile application
to communicate with both Irish and International politicians and inform them of
meetings and events, as well as registering their responses by SMS. Websites
hosted by LGCSB including the EU Presidency website, are monitored by Saadian's
automated SMS Server Alerts product and all issues and outages are alerted to
engineers via SMS. Saadian's SMS Server Alerts contains unique delivery escalation
functionality. The system automatically escalates issues via SMS depending on
severity and response time. Saadian Technologies designed the service for
LGCSB in conjunction with Vodafone. Saadian Technologies is a corporate solutions
provider to Vodafone. Commenting on the announcement, David McCarthy, Sales
