Cork Institute of Technology Uses Saadian Technology to Boost Student Communications and Reduce Phone Costs
Dublin, Ireland – August 2009 - The Cork Institute of Technology has cut down on phone call costs in some areas and boosted communications with its students by using Saadian’s new mobile messaging software. Irish owned software firm Saadian Technologies specialises in SMS (texting) services for public and private enterprises through its product, Business2Mobile.
Deirdre Falvey, Student Services, Cork Institute of Technology explains, “We use Saadian’s text messaging technology in the Student Services department primarily for communicating on college grant payments and also for texting students about society dates or sports events. In the past we had to phone every student individually which takes time and overall our administration time has been reduced by 10 to 15 percent with Business2Mobile. This reduction in phone calls has also cut costs for us.”
She continues, “We also find it gives our students more independence. For example, a Public Relations Officer or Chairperson of a club or a society can send out group texts to members rather than coming to the Students Services Personnel to contact each student individually. It is a significant cost but we feel that the cost is justified by increased communications and increased numbers at various events throughout the college year.”
Saadian’s Managing Director, Cliodhna McGuirk adds, “The Cork Institute of Technology has a site licence so all departments within the college can use our software. It is a more effective and efficient way of communicating with students on appointment reminders and college information. The system provides reports of all sent and received messages. This is vital for keeping distribution lists up-to-date.”
